Dorian Blue (they/them) is an experienced multimedia artist with a rich background in multimedia storytelling.
Featured on WETA Arts in June 2019 as an Emerging Artist, Dorian Blue's artistic background precedes their prolific work as a portrait photographer. Hailing from the University of Maryland, Dorian Blue's artistic eye was refined through rigorous application of critical thought as a College Park Arts Scholar (2014-2016). Their capstone presentation, While At the Grave of Wellness (2016), embodied individualized journeys around trauma, healing, and transformation. The 6-piece exhibition echoed in conversation with fellow poets and artists, utilizing the modes of poetry, experimental film and multimedia pieces to narrate a complex journey transforming trauma into transformation and ultimately wellness.
To date, Dorian Blue's artistic process is steeped in rich conversation around joy, movement, and transformation. As an artist, Dorian Blue's approach to form is intuitive, emotional, and experimental. Through expansive brushstrokes, rich color, and commitment to fluidity, Dorian Blue's work aspires to move their audience through well-known emotions such as anger, grief, and joy, while simultaneously inspiring complex conversations around transformation and movement.
